Whew! The crazy holiday season is almost over (as we stumble on to yet another festive season - Chinese New Year here we come!) and we want to thank EVERYONE who put in orders for their very own Lazy Susan creations. Hello Lazy Susanettes! Big apologies for the super long silence. As we've been discovering, running a little fledgling business and keeping a newborn happy and fed is really, really hard!

We're aware we've yet to get back to some of you, but this is due to a backlog of orders we're working hard to complete. We don't ever want to compromise on quality and as these are labour-intensive, 100% hand-sewn products, we've taken a little longer than we hoped to get your orders filled! We hope you bear with us during this hectic time (especially as Christmas rolls round!) and we promise the delays are not because we've decided to actually live up to the "lazy" part of our name! :0)

A week ago, we got an urgent call from one anxious young gent, with hearts in his eyes, asking for help. He needed a lil' sump'in-sump'in for the object of his affection, so we whipped out the old mixing bowl and scoured our pantry of ingredients to make this: a custom plush donut keyring - a first for Lazy Susan!

This pleasantly plump chocolate cutie is lusciously layered with baby pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles - something sweet for the girl he's sweet on! Will this sweet gesture work? Our whisks and spatulas are crossed!

Mighty-Mighty Gingerbread Man!

Meet the latest addition to the Lazy Susan cookie family! Our little fatty, Gabin - the mighty-mighty Gingerbread Man pin, made specially for a lovely French schoolboy's sports bag.

Gabby is a whopping 9cm tall, 6cm wide and stuffed full of fluffy marshmallow that makes him a puffy, squidgey cutie! His tummy is vibrantly decorated with yummy jelly tot-buttons and he peers at you through shiny liquorice eyes.

Aw, look how snug he looks all tucked up in his packaging, ready to be delivered to his new home!

Hello Lazy Susanettes!

Yes, it HAS been a while AGAIN, but things have been hectic in the Lazy Susan Kitchen, what with us keeping up with orders (thanks so much for the kind words and support, ladies!), coming up with new designs and (wheeeeeeeeee!!!) being featured in various blogs and magazines.

Woot-woot to blogland: muchas gracias to one of our first customers, the mahveous Miss Imp of Faerie Land & the oh-so-clever Miss Sesame of Viva Woman for writing about us. Do write us and tell us if you've written about us, we'd like to return the favour!

Woots to the printed word: big-up to Time Out Singapore - we were website of the month in their April issue & to Catalog - we're giving away 4 of our brooches in their contest, so look out for the free mag (your definite shopper) at bars and cafes!

Lately, we've been whizzing out a lot of custom orders and are currently working on a top secret, possible clothing "collabo", designing appliques like we've never done before. We love experimenting with materials and textures, so we're loving the challenge.

We're also thrilled to introduce our brand new packaging, complete with sage-green ribbon, sticker labels and cupcake-cup lining in pretty pastels!

Retail is Finally a Reality

Apologies for the short silence... Lazy Susan have been labouring away to keep up with online orders whilst juggling

b) pregancy - babies rock!
AND also, working on developing one side of our little business. Read on, readers...

Finally! Lazy Susan have a tiny sliver of retail space to call our own. Now you can see, touch, try and buy a selection of our brooches at Shermay's Cooking School - where you can also take fabulous cupcake classes, pick up delicious tidbits, buy pro-kitchen tools!

As we mentioned before, the brooches are all new designs inspired by the cupcake class we took there. Shermay's school and shop are conveniently located at Chip Bee Gardens, by Holland Village, so go check out our 100% handmade display and better yet, purchase a darling little cupcake brooch (or 5!) for yourself.

Here are some pictures of our little journey into retail...

Relieved and slightly delirious, we finally completed sewing 40 brooches by hand! Those eye-bags are the real thing - achieved only by 7 sleepless nights of industrious sewing.

Our display - 100% homemade and assembled! With much gratitude to Mr E, design slave to Lazy Susan and beloved hubby of Sue.

Did we mention it was also 100% self-suspended? Tah-dah! The final product - hung, positioned and ready for business!

Lazy Susan are tired, but thrilled to bits that our little hobby has turned into something much bigger than we expected - we're excited to see how it all grows organically. Your Lazy Susans are beyond gobsmacked by the overwhelming response to our fine felt foods! We just wanted to holla at the delicious folks from Time Out Singapore for featuring us (page scan coming soon!) and to also thank YOU for purchasing a Lazy Susan product.

You'll notice several of our yummies have been sold (they're made in very small quantities - first of all, for hand-made-quality's sake and second, to ensure that they stay uncommonly yours). Don't worry! You can still order these in-demand items, just drop us an email and tell us which one you crave. We'll stop baking when we've hit our maximum quota, ok?

NEWS FLASH! We received our first international order yesterday! We *heart* England! Seven tasty trinkets were lovingly wrapped in their own little take-out boxes and rushed to the airport, where our discerning Restauranteur & dashing International Man of Mystery was waiting to whisk them home. Hope his lady friends are very happy with their wearable treats! It's really not as dodgy as it sounds! In any case, big ups to Stoke-on-Trent (where our creations now jet-settingly reside) for putting Lazy Susan on the map and making us go global!

Our batch of plush donuts are finally baked and ready for tasting!

Pomegranate frosted, dark chocolate donut topped with baby pink m&ms.

Mocha-infused donut, frosted with strawberries and creme - topped with peppermint sprinkles for that extra oomph!

Chocolate donut with pure vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles to brighten any day!

Chocolate donut with pistachio-green frosting, and topped with mint-chocolate chips. A pick-me-up for any dull day.

Dark chocolate donut, delicately decorated with lavendar-infused white chocolate frosting, completed with pretty lilac sanding sugar.

Last Friday, your Lazy Susans went for a gourmet cupcake class at the always-delightful Shermay's Cooking School. Also delightful was finally meeting the till-then mysterious and scarily talented Kuidaore aka Cupcake Chef Extraordinaire. We had a blast and a veritable taste-and-smell-extravaganza! So inspired were we by these...

Adult-versions of fairy cakes - luscious, layered flavours of Lavender, Chai Spice, Earl Grey and Lemon Meringue, all frosted with White Chocolate.

...that we whipped up some personalised cupcake brooches for our chef-hostesses. Behold!

Lazy Susan is actually 2 people - Sue-Ann & Denise! We're a pair of life-long friends who've been baking & sewing together since we were in kindergarten. We're obsessed with shopping, silliness and trawling the internet for all sorts of cuteness to squeal over. Copious amounts of food and craftiness are definitely involved in our frequent escapades!

We both have day jobs, but spend much of our time at work daydreaming up new designs and fantasizing of the day (hopefully in the near future, fingers crossed, pretty-please with a cherry on top?) we can make Lazy Susan our full-time "occupassion"!

The following 8 cupcakes were inspired by a cupcake class we took at Shermay's Cooking School:

Carlotta - Eye-catchingly colourful and the life of any party, this striking cupcake evokes the fun of circuses and carnivals. She’s all soft layers of raspberry-lemon frosting, complete with a shiny hot pink cherry and cheery embroidered daisies.

Chandra - This charming little chai cupcake adds a touch of exoticism to the collection. She is a pleasing blend of milky earth-tones, finished with glistening glass bugle beading as white and dark chocolate shavings. All luxuriously wrapped in velvet ribbon and bronze sequins.

Oh my! We're super proud of our 3 pretty girls and a little sad too... As soon as the little babies popped out of the oven, they were sent off to live in England.
Luckily we have plenty of choice ingredients & cupcake DNA to refashion their cupcake clones ;) In other words, we're still taking orders for them for as long as we can!

Meet the latest addition to the Lazy Susan cookie family! Our little fatty, Gabin - the mighty-mighty Gingerbread Man pin, made specially for a lovely French schoolboy's sports bag.

Gabby is a whopping 9cm tall, 6cm wide and stuffed full of fluffy marshmallow that makes him a puffy, squidgey cutie! His tummy is vibrantly decorated with yummy jelly tot-buttons and he peers at you through shiny liquorice eyes.

Futo-Maki (fat roll): Plush & squidgy-squeezable, this little beauty really lives up to its name! About 0.8cm thick and 3.5cm wide, its 3D effect is enhanced by shimmering glass bugle bead rice grains, bronze-sequined kampyo (dried gourd) and pink-beaded denbu (cod flakes). A puffy, sunny yellow omelette and metallic embroidered shitake mushroom & cucumber complete this elaborate sushi brooch.

Ikura (salmon roe): Tantalizing orange-tinted translucent egg-beads, and crunchy two-toned cucumber slices with green bugle bead seeds, set against tasty nori-wrapped rice!

Temaki - California Handroll: fluffy white rice, cucumber slivers, kani-kama (imitation crabstick), avocado and crystal masago (smelt roe) all wrapped in silver-sequined nori!

A note on our mouth-watering accessories:

Prices (in Singapore $$$) are available on request, but don't worry!
Each unique accessory won't set you back more than $15 - $25, depending on size and embellishments. Quick! Convert my moola!

All have a stainless steel rear-mounted pin (2.5cm in width) with either...

a) a rotary clasp fastener for added security.

b) a luxury Japanese safety pin fastener.

Most brooches average a length of 5cm, except for the larger commissioned handrolls and ice-cream cones. We'd be happy to make any brooch according to your measurement specifications!

Our designs can also be made into hair pins, hair clips, necklaces, charm bracelets, or sewn as appliques onto hand-made purses (snap-button & drawstring). Watch this space for more details! And in the meantime, just ask if you want something done. We always try to accommodate!

We love using DMC & Gutterman threads on our unique felt designs and we source from all over the region for extra-special embellishments (beads, sequins, buttons, lace, ribbons, etc.)

Due to the handcrafted nature of our brooches, your order may vary slightly from photos in stitching and bead placement. Which means you really do get a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable food! Yay, you!
